Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was first spotted with Madison Beer in August 2025.

The couple announced their engagement in July 2026.

Beer is a platinum-selling, two-time Grammy-nominated American singer, songwriter, and producer.

Two different worlds collided when, in August 2025, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was spotted with pop singer Madison Beer. But while their first outing might’ve been a surprise to their fans, the couple had been seeing each other already.

And, almost a year after their first spotting, Herbert and Beer announced their engagement on July 28, 2026. “Meet my fiancé,” Beer wrote in the joint post on Instagram in an engagement photoshoot. “It was amazing,” Beer said of the proposal, per People. “I don’t really know what to say other than I’m really, really excited and I feel really lucky to be marrying such an incredible person, and I can’t believe it.”

A month earlier, the “Make You Mine” singer gushed about her connection with Herbert on the Therapuss podcast with Jake Shane. “When I’m having a convo with my boyfriend, my hair could be on fire and I wouldn’t notice,” Beer said. “And to be honest with you, he’s the first person I’ve ever felt that way about.”

Beer, who was born on March 5, 1999, in Long Island, New York, got her singing career started as a teenager. At just 13 years old, she posted a cover of Etta James’s “At Last” on YouTube. Not only did it gain her followers and over 1.5 million views, but Justin Bieber shared the video with his followers, making her an internet sensation.

With Bieber’s endorsement, Beer soon signed with Island Records and soon released her 2013 debut single, “Melodies.” In the video, Bieber makes an appearance.

She’s released three studio albums.

Over the years, Beer has released three studio albums, titled Life Support (2021), Silence Between Songs (2023), and Locket (2026), and one EP, titled As She Pleases (2018). Her most notable songs over the years include “Dead,” “Hurts Like Hell,” featuring Offset, “Good in Goodbye,” “Baby,” and “Showed Me (How I Fell in Love with You).”

She’s a two-time Grammy nominee.

Beer has been nominated for a Grammy Award twice in her career. Her first nomination came in 2024 for Best Immersive Audio Album for Silence Between Songs. In 2025, she was once again nominated for Best Dance Pop Recording for “Make You Mine.”

Beer is also an author and mental health advocate.

In addition to her music career, Beer released a tell-all memoir, The Half of It, in 2023. In the book, she takes readers behind the scenes in making her sophomore album, Silence Between Songs, andopens up about how her mental health plummeted, that she contemplated suicide, and how she ultimately recovered.

“What I hope most is that anyone who reads the book takes from it the challenges we all face in this world,” Beer told People after the memoir’s release. “At the end of the day, we are all connected by emotions, by the desire to be liked. [We] have our work validated — and are all equally touched and hurt —by comments on social media.”

On August 17, 2025, Beer and Herbert were first spotted together. In photos obtained by Us Weekly, Herbert was seen visiting the set of her upcoming music video. Per the outlet, they smiled and chatted in between takes.

They confirmed their relationship in October 2025.

Two months after rumors started swirling, Beer supported Herbert by attending a game of his against the Washington Commanders at L.A.’s SoFi Stadium on October 5, per People. In photos and videos obtained by fans, the two kissed and hugged on the sidelines before Herbert joined the rest of his team.

They went Instagram official for her birthday.

On March 5, 2026, Herbert posted Beer on his social media for the first time in a tribute for her birthday. “Happy birthday to my favorite person of all time,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories, per Billboard. “You’ve changed my life forever. I am the luckiest guy alive.” The sweet message was above a photo of them at one of his games.

They got engaged in July 2026.

On July 28, 2026, Herbert and Beer announced their engagement on Instagram. Alongside a carousel of pictures from the proposal, Beer wrote, “Meet my fiancé.”

Following their milestone, Beer revealed on Twitch that the proposal actually took place on July 26, 2026, the day that marked their first anniversary together. “So last July 26, he asked me to be his girlfriend and this one he asked me to be his wife,” Beer shared, per People, via a screen recording posted by a fan on TikTok. “My heart can’t take it. Honestly, it makes me want to cry whenever I talk about it. But it was on our one-year of being official.”
