Angie Stone's son, Michael Archer II, is honoring his late mother on her birthday, less than a year after her death.

Archer, known professionally as Swayvo Twain, paid a special tribute to his mother, the celebrated singer-songwriter who died unexpectedly in a car crash in March. In a Thursday, Dec. 18 post on Instagram, featuring a range of photos from his mom's life and career, Archer expressed his deep love for her on what would have been her 64th birthday.

"Happy birthday mama….. I love you so much …. I miss you so much … every single day ….. too many feelings to write em all out , but I just wanna thank you for being who you are …. Love ya mama ❤️🥹," he wrote in the caption.

Archer's post included a few snaps of Stone in her element on stage, a photo of himself sitting on her lap, a clip from her birthday party in 2018, and silly moment between the two of them when Archer confiscated his mother's phone.

Following Stone's death on March 1, Archer and his sister Diamond Stone spoke out about their loss in a post on Instagram. While asking for privacy during their grief, Stone's children wrote about their mother's lasting legacy.

"Angie was an example for Black women and girls everywhere. She is a pioneer of rap music that began with the female trio 'The Sequence.' Angie Stone believed in giving back to her fans and the community with her foundation 'Angel Stripes,'" the post's caption read.

They added, "Even though Angie is no longer with us physically her family wants you to keep her legacy alive."

Roughly seven months after the death of his mother, Archer also experienced the loss of his father, singer D'Angelo, who died at age 51 on Oct. 14. In a statement to PEOPLE at the time, D'Angelo's family said he had died following a "prolonged and courageous battle" with pancreatic cancer.

"We are saddened that he can only leave dear memories with his family, but we are eternally grateful for the legacy of extraordinarily moving music he leaves behind," the family's statement read.

Archer shared an additional statement with PEOPLE on Oct. 14, recognizing the "difficult times" ahead of him after both his parents died this year. “I ask that you please continue to keep me in your thoughts as it will not be easy, but one thing that both my parents taught me was to be strong, and I intend to do just that," he said.
