Another Worldstar Mark Mortimer has died at age 59 following a battle with cancer.
The actorās family shared an online obituary, telling fans that Mortimer had ālived many lives in one lifetimeā prior to his death on Sept. 23. The tribute confirmed that Mortimerās death came āafter a fearless journey with cancer.ā However, further details were not specified.
āHe was an Army veteran, a model, an actor, an entrepreneur and a builder. He was a husband, father, son, brother and friend,ā Mortimerās obituary continued. āHe was curious and determined, willing to take chances, start something new, change direction and figure things out along the way. But of all the titles Mark held throughout his life, the two that mattered most to him were husband and dad.ā
Mortimer was born on April 15, 1967, in Yorkville, Ill. He made his acting debut in 1996, appearing as Nick on Another World. āHe was honest with her. He was present. And everything he did as her father was filled with love. When Hunter was little, Mark put her to bed every night,ā the obituary continued. āAs she grew, he made the deliberate choice to build his life around being her father. He didnāt fit fatherhood in; he scheduled his work life around fatherhood. Being there for Hunter was never something Mark squeezed into his schedule. She was the schedule.ā
Mortimer was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. His online tribute noted that the illness ānever became the definitionā of Mortimerās story.
āMark faced the end of his life with the same faith with which he lived it. His confidence did not come from believing everything would turn out the way he wanted,ā the tribute read. āIt came from knowing where he was going. He believed in Jesus. He believed in the promise of Heaven. And as his earthly life drew to a close, that belief gave him peace.ā
