After Chad Lowe announced the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe, he is sharing insight into his coping process.

On Thursday, Oct. 8, more than a week after Fiona Lowe died by suicide on Sept. 29, he took to his Instagram stories to share a clip from Olivia Hunt's "On Healing" podcast. In the clip, author and self-described "soul coach" Gerry Hussey discusses his belief in a "divine frequency" and muses about what happens when someone dies.

"So when we die, where do we go? We return to a state of peace and love. Where were we before we were born?" he said, adding that he believes "there's a spirit that enters the body. It mobilizes. It gives us an intelligence and an awareness."

In the episode, originally released in July 2025, Hussey spoke about the grieving process involving accepting that "we control nothing" and that "nobody really knows why people die; nobody really knows why we live."

"Every parent believes they're going to outlive their children. But not every parent gets that chance," he said. "If you have someone you deeply love now, tell them you love them. Leave no conversation unsaid. Leave no wound unhealed."

Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter, shared the news of their daughter's death in a family statement to People on Sept. 29.

"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family wrote, adding she was "a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance."

"She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents," they continued. "In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."

Their message included information for the national suicide and crisis helpline: "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."

Suicide is one of the leading causes of death among youth and adults in the United States, according to the CDC. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline’s BeThe1To website provides five action steps for opening a line of communication with a person who may experience thoughts of suicide.

Lowe, 58, is an Emmy Award winner best known for his role as a teen on the ABC comedy-drama "Life Goes On" and is the younger brother of Rob Lowe. He and Painter, 52, have been married since 2010 and welcomed Fiona in November 2012. The pair also share daughters Mabel, 17, and Nixie Barbara, 10.
