The CIA Season 2 premiere kicked off with Nikki alerting the team about the arrival of cartel fixer Eduardo "Lalo" Cabrella in New York, who works for the Ortega cartel. Since Lalo is trouble, Nikki wanted the team to tail him and find the motive behind his visit.

Colin and Bill tracked Lalo to former Navy SEAL Mitch Selby, who was found dead in his house, with something stolen from a safe hidden behind a painting. After Nikki got a tip about the murder of Selby's acquaintance Kip Paul, who was murdered on a yacht, it was clear that it was a revenge plot against DEA Agents. Another tip led Nikki and the team to Keith Truman, who was on an undercover mission. After Truman suggested that the cartel was likely after them for revenge, Colin and Bill proposed setting up a safe house for Truman and the other agents.

The case took a shocking turn in CIA Season 2 Episode 1

The CIA Season 2 premiere took a turn when Gina discovered that Selby and Paul's murders were connected to an assassin named Felix. Colin immediately clocked Felix, who had killed three CIA operatives in the past. After some digging, Nikki's team concluded that Felix was targeting agents who had stolen from the Ortega cartel.

After surveillance footage confirmed Truman's presence near Felix's car, the team suspected that he was working with him. Another tip led Colin and Bill to Gary Martin, Selby's acquaintance, who revealed that Kip killed a 15-year-old boy while the group was stealing the money. While Truman was corrupt from the start, the kid's murder forced Gary to get clean, and he quit the DEA.

In CIA Season 2 Episode 1, Colin suggested using Martin as bait to lure Felix. As expected, the trio was ambushed by Felix en route to Selby's funeral. While Bill managed to catch up to the assassin on the bridge, he escaped after jumping into the water, possibly to his death.

The duo eventually arrested Truman with the stolen cartel cash. Nikki revealed disappointing news to the team: Felix was alive and could become a problem for the CIA in the upcoming episodes.

Another subplot in CIA Season 2 Episode 1 saw Bill dealing with the grief over his father's death. When visiting his mother, Bill was shocked when he found his father's old boarding pass, suggesting that he was in Georgia in 1998. While Bill's mother knew nothing about her husband's secretive trip, the discovery piqued Bill's interest.

The truth about Bill's father's past took a shocking turn as the place and the year rang a bell for Colin. He went snooping around some old records in search of answers. He hit the jackpot when he found Bill's father's records in the CIA's old case files. It turns out Bill's father was in the CIA but he was unaware of this side of his father's life. While this opened a ton of mysteries for Bill in CIA Season 2, Colin assured him they would solve it together.
