TLC’s reality series follows a group of housewives who turned to filming adult content to provide for their families

The secret lives of TLC’s newest reality stars are starting to catch up to them.

In PEOPLE’s exclusive clip from the premiere of Double Lives of Suburban Wives, Tammy, Bri and Macy work out at a local gym while filming the show. But when the staff recognize Bri from her online adult content, they ask them to leave.

As Macy is opening up to her fellow castmates about what it’s been like to be out in public without her usual disguise, she reveals that she feels “ready” to be herself.

“That takes so much strength,” Bri affirms, after Macy shares she was undercover for three years. “I was undercover for three months, maybe?”

“I mean, not very long,” Tammy says. “[But] you didn’t have a choice. Like, somebody found out and then leaked that everywhere.”

Meanwhile, the women receive stares from multiple people at the gym as they are talking. Then, a voice shouts at them, “Hey, over here!”

The production crew walks over to the treadmills, where the women are walking, and lets them know they are being “kicked out” of the gym.

“So, just so you know, they googled Brianna, and they’re kicking us out,” production staffers tells them, as the women are baffled. “They want no part of this. Let’s walk out and get out of here.”

In her confessional, Tammy says, “What is happening right now? We weren’t taking naughty pictures. We weren’t handing out business cards. We weren’t advertising what we do.”

“This is really freaking scary that I am getting kicked out of something that’s just part of my normal life,” Macy says. “Getting kicked out of the gym is making me realize that coming out isn’t just about telling the truth. It’s about knowing that I’m probably going to be judged and treated like I’m not human. I don’t know if I’m ready for that yet.”

Double Lives of Suburban Wives follows six couples as they “navigate the complexities of marriage, parenthood and suburban life alongside careers in adult content creation,” a synopsis reads.

“Bound together by genuine friendships and shared experiences, the women lean on one another through the highs and lows, but even their closest bonds are tested as personal struggles, competing priorities and differing perspectives create friction within the group.”

“As they navigate judgment, family expectations and the challenges of balancing two very different worlds, the series offers an intimate look at the relationships that sustain them and the tensions that threaten to pull them apart,” the synopsis adds.

Double Lives of Suburban Wives premieres Sunday, Aug. 9, at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
