Former UCLA Bruin is headed to the defending Super Bowl champions

One former UCLA Bruin is set to get a shot in the NFL, with running back TJ Harden signing a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks after being undrafted in this year’s NFL Draft. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news on Wednesday.
Harden capped off his collegiate career with one season at SMU after spending his first three years with UCLA. Perhaps Harden saw what was coming for the 2025 Bruins, with the team being unable to run the ball consistently all season.
The season at SMU was a good, but not great one for Harden. The Los Angeles native rushed for 787 yards and was able to find the endzone 10 times for the 9-4 Mustangs. Harden led SMU in rushing but only started six of his 13 games. Harden’s best season may have come in 2023 when he was a sophomore for UCLA. He rushed for a career-best 827 yards and scored nine touchdowns in Chip Kelly’s offense.

Harden joins a Seattle running back room that is looking for help. The Seahawks saw Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III leave in free agency and fellow UCLA alum Zach Charbonnet is currently on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as Seattle begins training camp.
The Seahawks aren’t the first NFL team to take a look at Harden, the running back was first signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland waived Harden earlier this month, allowing for Harden to go from the league’s laughingstock to the defending Super Bowl champs.
