The Charlotte Hornets opened their 2026-27 preseason Tuesday night with a matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. Charlotte entered the game shorthanded, missing three starters and six players in total. Brandon Miller, Kon Knueppel and Coby White were sidelined in addition to Grant Williams, Christian Anderson Jr. and Kylan Boswell, a two-way player.
In their absence, it was Liam McNeeley who led the way after being inserted in the starting lineup, finishing with a team-high 14 points in 19 minutes while shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Recent trade acquisitions Naz Reid and Grayson Allen were welcomed with a warm reception, as the duo scored 13 points apiece, with Allen converting on all three of his 3-point attempts.
Unfortunately for Charlotte, turnovers got the best of them, as the Hornets gave away the ball 25 times. The Nets capitalized on this, scoring 31 points off turnovers and cruising to a 124-90 victory as a result.
