Actor Hayden Panettiere's ex-fiancé, former boxer Wladimir Klitschko, was granted legal authority by a California court on Thursday to protect the actor's property for their 11-year-old daughter, Kaya, after her mother's passing.

The petition filed by Wladimir reads that Kaya is "not a resident of California; this Court has jurisdiction over the guardianship of Kaya's estate because, as such heir, Kaya is entitled to the entirety of the assets subject to Hayden's probate administration in California."

The petition also stated that federal agents accessed Hayden's home as part of an ongoing investigation, and Wladimir wants to be the estate's rep, so he is entitled to the property once the probe is finished. This comes after it was revealed that Hayden Panettiere's mom and on-and-off boyfriend not invited to her memorial.

Wladimir, 50, added that he was worried some of Hayden's assets may be lost, per TMZ. "Without an immediate appointment for these purposes, there is a high probability that property belonging to Hayden’s Estate may be lost, damaged, or dissipated before a duly appointed personal representative can be in place to protect it,” the filing stated.

Wladimir is a Ukrainian former world champion boxer and has had full custody of Kaya. The father and daughter live in Ukraine, but they recently appeared in Los Angeles County court remotely via video conference.

They reportedly introduced themselves at the brief hearing with only Kaya visible on camera, per NBC Los Angeles.

Judge Stephanie Santoro granted Wladimir temporary guardianship of Kaya's estate until a long-term administrator can be appointed.

According to a coroner's report, Hayden - who had been in rehab just weeks before her death - lost her life due to an accidental overdose of several drugs, including fentanyl, on August 16, 2026.

A combination of fentanyl and its chemical byproduct, as well as the anti-anxiety medication alprazolam, a muscle relaxer, and a drug used to treat major depression and other serious mental health disorders, was found in the late actress's system, according to a statement from the Greenville County Coroner's Office.

In the coroner's officer's statement, they said that "an autopsy was completed by a board-certified forensic pathologist. At autopsy, no signs of trauma were discovered that would have contributed to the death."

The child star rose to fame in the TV shows Heroes and Nashville. In her memoir This Is Me, released in May, she described challenges with her early fame, a turbulent relationship with her mother, and admitted to being addicted to alcohol.
