Tom Selleck experienced a wave of backlash from CNN viewers after he shared his thoughts President Donald Trump.
The Hollywood legend appeared on the news network to discuss his life and career and during the chat he was given his opportunity to let everyone know his political affiliations. However, Tom, 81, perhaps didn't give the response that many were hoping for, leaving him open to heavy criticism from those watching.
Asked by CNN host Elex Michaelson, "How do you feel about Trump and what he's doing?" Tom made it clear that he was not interested in progressing with the line of conversation and that he is only interested in being an entertainer. This comes as Tom revealed how much of his pay was cut by CBS during his run on Blue Bloods.

He said, "Well, he's certainly a mixed bag. I stay out of the current political world. Why piss off half the country when you're in the business of entertaining people?"
Watching a clip of the comments online one viewer said, "A mixed bag? What’s the mix he feels comfortable 'staying out of'? A convicted felon, adjudicated rapist traitor who incited a deadly attack on our Capitol mixed in with some business fraud, a disdain for people of color and a few credible allegations of child rape? FFS. Coward."

A second said, "Why 'piss off half the country'? Because MAGA is ruining the structures of democracy & freedom. Selleck is in a position to support freedom & honest capitalism, but chooses to hide behind a mask of 'entertainment'. That's ignorance & cowardice at its best."

A third posted, "Oops…too late,Tom. Being wishy-washy about a horrible human being because you don’t want to “piss off” half the country just pissed off more than that."
A fourth social media user shared, "No doubt you are in the trump cult but you don’t wanna lose your fan base or hurt your tv show. We definitely can read between the lines. You lost me as a fan for sure. We who can’t stand Trump say it loud and proud."
A fifth noted, "'Why piss off half the country when you're in the business of entertaining people?' Yeah, that's a MAGA thing to say."
However, not everyone was so irked by Tom and some fans actually praised him for his stance. One commented, "Selleck has got to be the best looking 80 year old ever. And he's right. More actors should take note. We don't care what your politics are. Do your job & entertain."

They continued, "You all should be embarrassed. Here’s a tip for all of you who felt the need to make a dumb comment: Turn off your TV. Get off the internet. Don’t read any print media. It’s all noise that is just rotting your brain. You need to go outside, outside of your bubble and reset."
