Josh Brolin has sold his seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom Atlanta-area estate for $4 million

The Dune actor and his wife, Kathryn Boyd Brolin, first purchased the Sandy Springs, Ga. home in 2020 for $3.25 million

The property was previously rented out for $35,000 monthly and served as a retreat for visiting Hollywood talent

Josh Brolin has officially sold his charming Georgia estate.

In late September, the Duneactor, 58, sold his traditional-style home in Sandy Springs, Ga., a suburb just outside of Atlanta. Brolin, who shared the property with wife Kathryn Boyd Brolin, 38, received $4 million for the sale, according to Realtor.com.

Brolin initially listed the house with a $5 million asking price in April, before the listing was removed from the market three days later. It reappeared with a $249,000 price cut in June.

ā€œIt’s a charming ā€˜one-of-one’ property that manages to feel like a private resort while remaining incredibly approachable,ā€ Brolin’s realtor, Jacob Bean, said in a statement shared with PEOPLE back in May. ā€œThe Brolins poured so much love into the curation of this estate, and the result is a beautiful compound that has quite literally been the preferred home-away-from-home for Hollywood’s elite while filming in Georgia.ā€

Upon listing, Bean told The Atlanta Journal-Constitutionthe home was previously up for rent for the past couple of years — costing $35,000 a month. He added that the couple first purchased the residence for $3.25 million in 2020.

ā€œIn the Atlanta luxury market, privacy is the ultimate currency. This estate has served as a discreet haven for some of the biggest names in the film industry, and for good reason,ā€ Bean said. ā€œBetween the secluded location and the compound-style layout, it offers a level of security and serenity that makes it a turn-key solution for high-profile residents who need to disappear from the world while staying in the heart of the city.ā€

Inside the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom estate, there’s a large foyer surrounded by the formal dining room and a lounge perfect for hosting. Elsewhere is a two-story living room with a fireplace and a chef’s kitchen with a large center island, casual seating and an eat-in space.

At the rear of the main house, an ā€œoversized primary sanctuaryā€ occupies its own wing. The suite features vaulted ceilings and a private lounge area that connects directly to the back porch.

Outside, a large heated gunite pool offers a hot tub, two waterfalls and a custom jumping rock. Beyond the pool, a set of stairs lead to an expansive lawn with a hidden park set back in a canopy of trees.

Since listing the home, Brolin has shared that he didn’t particularly care for the neighborhood of Sandy Springs.

During the Atlanta Film Festival in May, Brolin noted his excitement in learning that one of his projects would be filming locally in Atlanta. As the father of two young daughters — Westlyn, 7, and Chapel, 5 — it was important to him to stay home in the ā€œeasy town.ā€

ā€œWhat I love about Atlanta, especially, is it’s so diverse,ā€ he said in a May 2 TikTok filmed by journalist DeWayne Hamby.

He went on: ā€œWe have a house in Sandy Sprints, which I don’t particularly like… I mean, I’m just being honest. But downtown, Inman Park and all that, I love. I like diversity, I like a little grit, you know what I mean? There’s not a lot of grit in Sandy Springs.ā€
