- Justin Bieber returned to Coachella for weekend 2 and shocked another pop star.
- He continued a longtime tradition of sweetly serenading a fan with his 2009 hit "One Less Lonely Girl."
- That fan happened to be lifelong Belieber Billie Eilish, who teared up as they embraced on stage.
Some childhood dreams really do come true.
Billie Eilish got to live out one of hers during weekend 2 of Coachella 2026. On Saturday night, Justin Bieber took the stage for a headlining set in which he brought out an array of special guests. While Eilish was among the stars who joined him on stage, her part in the performance was a little unexpected.
Rather than jumping in to perform with the pop star, the "Happier Than Ever" singer got to enjoy the show as a fan.
As is his tradition, Bieber looked to the crowd while singing his 2009 hit "One Less Lonely Girl" and chose a fan to serenade. This time that fan was Eilish, who was equal parts delighted and embarrassed as she was pulled towards the stage. Once she was up there, Bieber brought out a stool and sat Eilish down as he circled her, singing the fan-favorite track.

Before getting plucked from the crowd, Eilish had been watching the show with her brother Finneas O'Connell's fiancée, Claudia Sulewski, and Bieber's wife, Hailey Bieber. In TikTok footage captured by Sulewski, Hailey ushered Eilish out of the VIP section to join the pop singer on stage where the serenade began. Eilish can be seen embracing Bieber, tearing up and emotionally collapsing on the ground during and after the performance.
Towards the end of the performance, Bieber encouraged her to get up, hugging her from behind as he finished singing. When he did, he said into the mic, "Only you, shawty."
The sweet interaction is something of a full circle moment for Eilish, who has consistently cited Bieber as an inspiration since her stratospheric rise to fame in the late 2010s. Eilish and Bieber met at Coachella in 2019 and ended up collaborating on the remix to her 2019 breakthrough single, "Bad Guy."
That same year, during a visit to the Dutch talk show *De Wereld Draait Door*, 17-year-old Eilish shared that she'd never had any real aspirations to become famous — except for one reason.
"The only time that I really was like, 'I want to be famous,' I only wanted to be famous so I could be closer to Justin Bieber," she said. "Really, I was planning on it. I was like, 'If I got famous, then I would be closer to meeting him.'"

Having not met Bieber at that point, Eilish added that she wasn't sure she ever wanted to, explaining, "I know he wouldn't care. I'm just one of the [many] fans."
Eilish was wrong. A year after meeting her, Bieber got emotional telling Apple Music's Zane Lowe about his desire to shield her from the kinds of struggles he faced as a young star in the music business.

"I definitely feel protective of her. It was hard for me being that young and being in the industry and not knowing where to turn," Bieber said, tearing up. "Everyone telling me they love me, and, you know, [they] just turn their back on you in a second. If she ever needs me, I'm gonna be here for her."
He added, "I don't want her to go through anything I went through. I don't wish that upon anybody. If she ever needs me, I'm just a call away."

Bieber's April 18 Coachella set also included appearances from Sexyy Red (for "Sweet Spot"), Big Sean (for "As Long as You Love Me" and "No Pressure"), and SZA, who joined him on stage to sing her hit "Snooze."
The star-studded set came a week after some fans criticized Bieber for kicking off his Coachella headlining gig with a very relaxed performance in which he opened his laptop mid-show to scroll through YouTube, where he pulled up viral memes and his own music videos for a karaoke-like sing-along.
