Kate Middleton brought major fall energy to Northern Ireland, stepping out in an Emilia Wickstead plaid skirt for a visit to Belfast with Prince William. The Princess of Wales braved the rain in a polished autumn ensemble to visit the Commons in South Belfast. The royal couple visited the converted church community center as part of The Prince of Wales’ Homewards initiative.

Kate Middleton wore the label’s Kensie Skirt in Military Green Shetland Tartan, priced at £1,208.33 on the brand’s website. Emilia Wickstead crafts the design from a slightly heavier Shetland wool that holds its shape while still offering a refined drape.
The softly pleated A-line silhouette gives the skirt graceful movement, which was on full display as the Middleton walked. Cut to a midi length, it fell well below the knee, lending the look a polished, classic proportion.
Visually, the pattern is a deep military green crisscross with black lines and cream checks, a rich, earthy palette that feels perfectly seasonal. Moreover, with its sculpted structure and heritage-inspired fabric, the skirt captures timeless sophistication that suits a royal engagement.

At the waist, a graphic checked band adds a crisp finishing detail. To finish, Middleton cinched it with a black belt featuring a gold buckle, which balanced the volume of the pleated skirt. Together, they created a clean, tailored base for the flowing pleats.
To complement the skirt, Middleton paired it with a white ruffled blouse, its cascading neckline tucked neatly into the waistband. A black, tailored, long coat, worn open, offered a sharp contrast and kept the silhouette streamlined.
To round out the look, she opted for black pointed-toe pumps. A dark green top-handle bag echoed the skirt’s color, tying the palette together.
Finally, she styled her brunette hair in her go-to half-up, half-down look, in a Celtic knot, a fitting detail for the destination. By choosing the tailored route, Middleton showed how a single plaid piece can anchor a formal daytime outfit.
