Katherine LaNasa has one reason why her husband can’t be on The Pitt.
The actress, 59, reveals why her husband, actor Grant Show, can’t appear on the medical hit while speaking with PEOPLE at the show's season 2 premiere in Los Angeles in January.
“He's too handsome for the show,” LaNasa, who plays nurse Dana Evans, says.
“Maybe he can play some d--- surgeon or something,” LaNasa jokes.

LaNasa and Show, 64, first met while filming HBO's Big Love in 2006. They also shared the screen in Satisfaction, Devious Maids and Dynasty.
The couple got married in August 2012. They share one daughter, Eloise Show, who was born in 2014. LaNasa is also mom to son Henry Hopper, whom she shares with the late actor Dennis Hopper.
“He was still kind of a wild man when I met him,” the actress says. “I was like, ‘I'm not quite sure about this guy.’ I was really attracted to him, but I was in no mood for any trouble at that age. I was in my early 40s.”
“But he won me over and I'm so glad he did. He's such a great guy and great husband, great dad, and I'm so glad I'm with him,” she continues.
LaNasa and Show previously told PEOPLE about the key to maintaining their relationship after all these years.
“Our key to staying married? … Not getting divorced,” she quipped, as Show echoed her sentiment, adding, "Not breaking up."

Back in September, LaNasa gave her husband and kids a special shoutout when she won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards for her role in The Pitt.
LaNasa thanked "my children for making me real, and my beautiful husband Grant Show for helping me always with everything."

Multiple actors on the procedural medical drama have welcomed their partners to the show in the second season. Noah Wyle’s wife Sarah Wyle and Patrick Ball’s girlfriend Elysia Roorbach both had guest star appearances as ER patients.
The sophomore season follows workers at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center during a 15-hour shift on the Fourth of July.

LaNasa spoke with PEOPLE ahead of the Jan. 8 premiere of season 2 about her character's storyline mentoring recent nursing school graduate Emma, played by newcomer Laëtitia Hollard.
She said that Dana’s protectiveness over Emma is to make up for her being punched by an angry patient in season 1.
"I think it is a way of protecting Dana's self. It is a way of making up for the punch to make sure she knows how to be safe. That will be a big theme in our relationship throughout the show," LaNasa said.
Seasons 1 and 2 of The Pitt are available now on HBO Max.
