Conservative influencer Laura Loomer has made a bid to replace Markwayne Mullin as President Donald Trump's head of the Department of Homeland Security.
In a post on X, Loomer commented that, should Trump accept her bid, she would transform the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency a "paramilitary force." She wrote: "I would like to be the new DHS Secretary."
"I promise you I will actually make ICE @ICEgov the paramilitary force it should have always been to round up and forcefully remove jihadist invaders and third-world illegal aliens from our country," she added. "I will get the job done. @POTUS."

Reactions to Loomer's proposal were mixed, with some strongly in favor of it while others seemed opposed. "We need someone who will start deporting 100,000 illegals per day. Mullin is a failure!" one person X stated.
A second person claimed that it was "the best idea" they have ever heard. A third person added that Loomer had their full support.

Other people on the social media site were vehemently opposed. "As the new DHS secretary, would you make all immigrants, legal ones, and everyone that is not native born, wear special emblems on their clothing?" one person questioned, referring to the way people in the Nazi concentration camps were given either a star or a pink star.

"You would end up rounding up Americans that didn’t agree with some of your psychotic takes," another added. Another pointed out that the Oct. 7 attacks were perpetrated by a paramilitary force.

"The problem with such an ambition is that this 'paramilitary force' will eventually go beyond removing the jihadists only," one person added. "It would become a bane to the citizens of America, as such a 'force' would not be limited to certain target groups."
"It could easily be expanded to include American citizens who disagree with Israeli leaders, and what they are doing in the Middle East, and thereby, falsely accused of being antisemitic simply because they disagree with the Israeli government policies," they added. It comes as Loomer previously called for a probe into the death of Senator Lindsey Graham.

The well-known conspiracy theorist called for an investigation into Graham's death mere hours after it was announced. Loomer pointed fingers at two countries for the 71-year-old's unexpected passing.
"5 days ago, the IRGC publicly called for Senator Lindsey Graham to be assassinated," she stated. "He was traveling abroad to a war zone the last few days to try to end the war between Ukraine and Russia. He's been home for less than one day, and tonight, his staff said he passed away from a 'brief and sudden illness.'"

Loomer then raised questions about whether Graham had been poisoned, writing, "Was he poisoned by a foreign adversary either abroad or upon returning to the U.S.?" She added, "There should be an investigation into his death. Especially after Iran called for his death less than one week ago. What do his staff mean by a 'brief and sudden illness?' Poison?"
In a follow-up post, she further speculated whether the Senator had been poisoned by Russia, questioning, "Did Russia just murder a US Senator?" She added that, "it needed to be investigated."

Graham was said to have died by a tear in his aorta, according to a preliminary report from the medical examiner. Loomer also enraged Americans last year by establishing a hotline that would allow government employees to report cowokers for being "disloyal" to MAGA.
