Louis Tomlinson has unfollowed his former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik on Instagram.

The social media update comes amid reports of tension between the singers while they were filming their Netflix documentary series.

The Sun reported that they allegedly got into a physical altercation on set.

Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson may be going through another rough patch.

The former One Direction bandmates were set to reunite for a three-part U.S. road-trip documentary series, but they may have had a falling-out, according to new reports.

Tomlinson has unfollowed Malik on Instagram as of Saturday, April 18, while he is still following their fellow boy-band members, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne.

Two of Tomlinson's sisters, Phoebe and Lottie, have also unfollowed the "Pillowtalk" singer and are still following all three of their brother's other former bandmates. Meanwhile, Tomlinson remains one of the 17 accounts that Malik follows.

The unfollowing coincides with reports of tension between Tomlinson and Malik on the set of the road trip docuseries.

On Friday, The Sun reported that while filming the untitled Netflix series, the two stars had a disagreement that resulted in Malik allegedly punching Tomlinson. The series has been scrapped after the incident, which allegedly occurred six months ago, the outlet reported.

Nicola Marsh, who was set to direct the project, later shared a post highlighting the Sun's report about the alleged altercation.

"And there goes the last year of work," she captioned the now-expired post, which was captured in screenshots shared by multiple outlets, including the U.K.'s The Independent. March previously helmed Demi Lovato's Child Star and Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story.

Marsh did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly's request for comment.

Announced last October, the documentary series was described as "a spontaneous adventure of reconnection, exploration, and a lot of laughter." It would have seen the former One Direction singers reunite to discuss their time in the group, its dissolution, and their experiences after, including dealing with the tragic unexpected death of fellow band member Liam Payne.

The creative reunion between Malik and Tomlinson was especially meaningful for fans given their longtime personal conflict, dating back to a series of 2015 social media posts after Malik exited the group.

Two years later, Tomlinson claimed that they had addressed their tension and were on better terms, telling Sirius XM, "We've got to a point now where, you know, we can just really be happy for each other. Things have happened in the past, of course. Yeah, it's great. His first song is an absolute smash."

After Payne died in October 2024 of "multiple traumas" and "internal and external hemorrhages" after falling from a third-floor balcony at a Buenos Aires hotel, the remaining One Direction alums reunited at his funeral. Two months later, Tomlinson attended one of Malik's shows for his Stairway to the Sky Tour.

At the January 2025 performance, Malik told the crowd that the concert felt "kind of special" because, he explained, "An old friend of mine is here supporting me tonight. I don't want to give his location away, but Louis is here tonight."

On Friday, Malik posted an Instagram Story revealing that he was "unexpectedly recovering" after he was hospitalized due to an undisclosed illness. His team announced that several of his upcoming appearances had been canceled.

"Heartbroken that I can't see you all this week," Malik wrote to his fans. "Am so thankful for your understanding."

The status of Malik and Tomlinson's docuseries remains unclear. Representatives for Netflix did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment.
