Melanie C explained during her Aug. 4 appearance on KIIS 1065 that Beckham missed her nuptials due to FIFA World Cup commitments

The former bandmates reconnected in Ibiza shortly after the wedding

Melanie “Mel C” Chisholm is addressing longtime friend and fellow Spice Girl Victoria Beckham’s absence from her wedding.

The English singer-songwriter, 52, marriedChris Dingwall in England on Saturday, July 18, following a civil ceremony in Australia. Beckham, 52, was the only bandmate missing from the nuptials, as Spice Girls Melanie “Mel B” Brown, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Emma Bunton all attended. Melanie C explained Beckham’s absence during her Tuesday, Aug. 4, appearance on the Australian radio station KIIS 1065.

“So Victoria was very disappointed to not be there. She was with David in New York and it was the football final, the World Cup,” Melanie C said. “She tried to get out of it. She isn’t the biggest football fan, she won’t mind me telling you, but the family were there and David had commitments being an ambassador for FIFA.”

The fashion designer attended the FIFA World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday, July 19, with her husband, David, 51, and their two youngest sons, Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 21. As Spain beat Argentina, the couple stood in a row in front of Cruz with girlfriend Jackie Apostel and Romeo with girlfriend Kim Turnbull, per photos shared by Beckham on her Instagram Stories at the time.

Despite missing the wedding, Beckham still supported Melanie C by designing her gown. She offered to make her “dream dress,” crafting a sleek ivory slip dress with hand-stitched floral lace appliqués, according to British Vogue. Beckham also lent the bride a dress for her ceremony in Australia, which served as her “something borrowed.”

“Of course she made my gorgeous dress, and she was messaging me on the day. And I actually saw her when I was in Ibiza,” Melanie C said on KIIS 1065. “So we had a little catch up. So yeah, we were giving her updates and sending her pictures.”

Overall, the UK wedding was “amazing” and “perfect,” Melanie C said. She noted that “several” Spice Girls songs were played during the event.

“My feet haven’t touched the ground really because we had a beautiful weekend with all of our families and friends,” she said. “And then I was in Ibiza, I was DJing and then having some fun.”

Melanie C described her wedding as “the most perfect day” on Instagram on Sunday, Aug. 2. She later reflected on her nuptials on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Aug. 5, sharing that she’s “still on a high” from celebrating.

“I just wanted to take a minute to say a massive thank you to everyone because I’ve just had so many beautiful messages after I got married two weeks ago,” she said. “It’s been a crazy couple of weeks — a bit of DJing, had a little holiday, and I came back to Brighton Pride at the weekend, which was insane. So, I am still on a high. I’m so excited. I’m home now, and I’m about to start rehearsals for the world tour. So, what year 2026 is turning out to be. So I love you all, and I appreciate you. Mwah. Thank you and I’ll see you soon.”
