The family of the Miss North Carolina USA winner, who was stripped of her title, has issued a very loaded statement to the organization.
Brittany Boltinhouse, 27, was dethroned as Miss North Carolina USA 2026 after just over a month since she won the title on June 28. It was announced that runner-up Myla Hadley will take her crown and place at the competition instead.
Thom Brodeur, chairman and CEO of Miss USA and Miss Teen USA, posted a statement on Instagram noting conduct that broke the organization’s standards, without specifying the exact conduct. He said that the organization “does not tolerate racism, homophobia, transphobia, nor language that strips any person of their dignity — whoever they are.”

“That is not a policy written for a press release,” Brodeur wrote. “It is the floor of what it means to represent this brand.” He went on to emphasize the standards and responsibilities that come with winning a title from the Miss USA Organization.
While the statement did not detail exactly what conduct they were referring to, a screenshot has circulated on X that shows posts from an account that is believed to be of Boltinhouse referencing the N-word in 2017 and 2019.
While the model herself hasn't addressed the controversy, one of her family members told the Daily Mail that it's essential that the "proper narrative" comes out.

"I think it’s important to put her truth out and have the proper narrative out versus a narrative that is saving the face [of] an organization," they said.
"As you can imagine, there’s a lot we would like to say, but we are taking the time to be in prayer and unity and [will] respond in a manner [that] God calls us to."
Blaize Productions said in their statement that the decision to revoke her title "was not made lightly."
“A title here isn’t a trinket,” he wrote. “It is a position of trust, extended by an organization and accepted by a woman who agrees to carry a standard in public. When that standard is broken, the title cannot continue as though nothing happened.”
Brodeur added, “What was brought to us was not a single moment. It reflected conduct over an extended period. That is why this outcome was reached, and I stand behind it without qualification.”

He said that “state titleholders are recruited, vetted, and approved for competition at the state level” and that the organization “acted as soon as this reached us.”
He continued to remind people to be sensitive, noting, “There is a young woman at the center of this.”
“She has been named, examined, and judged in public in a way that most of us would not survive, and she is still a human being with a family, a future, and a life ahead of her that is longer than this part of her journey,” he wrote.
Additionally, he announced that Myla Hadley, the first runner-up in the competition, will be taking over the title of Miss North Carolina 2026, noting that she has the organization’s “full confidence and our support.”
