The New York Mets have a new Hall of Famer.
Mrs. Met has been elected to the Mascot Hall of Fame, the team announced Aug. 7, becoming the first female mascot in history to earn the distinction.
"Mrs. Met has been a beloved part of the Mets family for decades and has inspired fans of all ages with her energy, kindness and unwavering love for baseball," Katie Haas, Mets executive vice president and chief of ballpark operations said in a news release.
"Her election to the Mascot Hall of Fame is a historic milestone, not only for the Mets organization, but for mascots across professional sports. We couldn't be prouder to celebrate this well-deserved and long overdue honor."

The organization says Mrs. Met has made hundreds of appearances each year at games, charitable events, youth programs and special celebrations across the New York metropolitan area.
