Raven-SymonĂ© shares why itâs important for her to take âindividualâ time away from wife Miranda Maday.
âThereâs moments where Iâm like, âI need to be by myself,â because then it makes me appreciate her more,â explained the actress.
Raven-Symoné and Maday have been married since 2020.
After six years of marriage, Raven-Symoné knows the secret to wedded bliss: spending quality time apart.
The Disney Channel alum and her wife, Miranda Maday, made a joint appearance on the Wildmen podcast, cohosted by fellow child star Dylan Sprouse, and discussed maintaining QT with their significant other throughout lifeâs many changes. For Sprouse, a brand-new father, thatâs taking care of the baby together with wife Barbara Palvin, although itâs âprobably not the caseâ for the supermodel.
Raven-SymonĂ© agreed, and shared what sheâs learned from her relationship with Maday.
âI think thatâs also important in a marriage to have individual time, so that it does feel like quality time when you are together. And I love my wife. I love her so much, butâŠ,â the actress laughed, acknowledging âbutâ seemingly negates everything she just said.

âI love my wife. I really do,â she insisted. âAnd thereâs moments where Iâm like, I need to be by myself. Because then it makes me appreciate her more.â
The couple, who host the podcast Tea Time With Raven and Miranda, spent a considerable time apart while Raven-Symoné filmed The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen, the fourth installment of the franchise, in South Africa.
âAt the beginning of our relationship, it wasnât as easy,â the actress admitted to Maday. âAnd now I feel like you found personal time so that when we do come together, it does feel [equal].â

Maday, a Los Angeles native, revealed it âtook timeâ for her to realize she was âsafeâ in her relationship with Raven-SymonĂ©.
âAnd once I understood like, okay weâre solid, weâre stable, then there was actually this beautiful thing that happened that I never had from childhood or anything where I could relax and I could engage in that space with myself,â she explained. âI could just not have all the rumination or fear that alone time used to mean because it was not safe for better lack of words.â
Prior to the filming of The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen, the longest time Raven-Symoné had been away from home was two weeks, and typically on the East Coast.
But after more than two months, on the other side of the world in South Africa, the time apart affected how Maday even handled a friend coming over to visit. âIt was like I was missing just the fact of understanding that there was another body in the house,â she explained.

Once she was able âto catch upâ to Raven-SymonĂ©âs mindset, the foundation was established for quality time alone. âI can be on my own and enjoy it,â said Maday. âWhen you were gone, I got to really miss you. And then going to South Africa to see you was so exciting and fun.â
