Frankie Muniz's Malcolm was, indeed, in the middle of a new family reunion on the set of the upcoming *Malcolm in the Middle *series revival.

Muniz teamed up with his on-screen parents Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek on Christmas Day, during a special sneak peek at the *Malcolm in the Middle* sitcom continuation that aired during the 2025 Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade broadcast on ABC.

About halfway through the special, cohosts Ginnifer Goodwin and Alfonso Ribeiro introduced another of several segments that featured well-wishing celebrities who filmed short video messages for Christmas.

Amid tidings from the likes of Zoe Saldaña, Tim Allen, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Miley Cyrus, Muniz teamed up with Cranston and Kaczmarek, as the *Malcolm in the Middle* stars sat on chairs in front of a set that appeared to recreate the original series' memorable bathroom aesthetic.

"From the cast of *Malcolm in the Middle*, happy holidays!" Muniz said while seated between Cranston and Kaczmarek, who made funny faces throughout the rest of the clip.

The trio sat in front of a yellow and pink bathroom set, which closely resembled the yellow-tiled and pink-accented aesthetic of the bathroom that frequently appeared across the first seven seasons of the show between 2000 and 2006.

Muniz, Cranston, and Kaczmarek reprise their roles as Malcolm, Hal, and Lois in the forthcoming sitcom revival on Hulu and Disney+, which will also feature returning stars Chris Kennedy Masterson and Justin Berfield as Malcom's as older brothers Francis and Reese, respectively, and Emy Coligado, as Francis' wife, Piama.

However, the revival will not see the return of Erik Per Sullivan, who famously portrayed Malcolm's younger brother, Dewey. Instead, actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark will take on the role in the new edition.

Frankie Muniz as Malcolm

Frankie Muniz says 'Malcolm in the Middle' reboot will be 'pretty shocking' for fans: 'People will be surprised'

Cranston previously spoke about why Sullivan won't return alongside his fellow cast members, with the *Breaking Bad* actor telling the *Fly on the Wall* podcast he spoke with the former child star before the reboot — which is set to follow the family as they request an adult Malcolm's presence back at home to celebrate Lois and Hal's 40th anniversary.**

"I talked to Erik," Cranston revealed, "and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back.' He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic.'"

He added, "He's actually going to Harvard. He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh god, no, I haven't acted since I was nine or something. So I'm not into it.'"

Muniz said on the *Lightweights Podcast* in September that he thinks "people will be surprised, in a sense, where everybody is and the story" across its four-episode run.

"It's hard to fit in 20 years of stuff in four 30-minute episodes, right? But I think people are going to be very happy with what they came up with," he said.
