The Kansas City Chiefs traded veteran defensive back Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams early in the 2026 offseason as they endeavored to rebuild their ailing defense.
During comments to the media earlier this week, McDuffie broke down the differences between his training camp experiences with the Chiefs and Rams, pointing out that Los Angeles affords its players a bit more leniency.
“I think the biggest thing over here is the recovery time that they like to get," McDuffie said of the Rams' approach to training camp. "I think that's really big, especially now in training camp where it's longer days. We're out here practicing hard. You [need to] give yourself a second to recover your body, recover your mind.

"My favorite thing about that has been the DBs [Defensive Backs] get together and play games. We were playing cards the other night and really getting to know each other. I think a very big aspect of being a great team is knowing who you're playing with, so not only are you recovering your body and your mind, but we're generally spending time with each other, which to me is special, especially being new here.”
While it remains to be seen if McDuffie will be a top playmaker for Los Angeles, he will have plenty of opportunities to leverage his extra recovery time against the Chiefs, who are set to face the Rams in Week 1 of the preseason and Week 13 of the regular season.
