Every fashion-inclined person has a specific style they wear the most — even Martha Stewart. In fact, she recently showed Us a perfect spring outfit formula with one of her longtime go-to shoe styles, which you can also try for less than $60.
While attending Barbour’s pop-up opening brunch with Tea & Sympathy in New York City, Stewart slipped on a pair of wedged heels. The Clergerie style — which she’s worn in multiple colors over the years — featured a slingback silhouette in warm brown leather, set atop a thick wedged platform sole. We found a similar monochrome brown pair while searching for the height-boosting style, which included a peep-toe shape with buckled slingback straps and subtle 4-inch heels.

Patricia Arquette Wore the Chic Spring Heel Look That Belongs in Everyone’s Warm-Weather Wardrobe
Wedged heels are an ideal shoe for springtime thanks to their flat, balanced base, which allows a higher heel height to hide inside their thick, triangular shape. The open toes in the slingback pair we discovered, much like Stewart’s, also provide a ventilated silhouette that’s relaxing and breathable on warmer days. Plus, its buckled strap allows for an adjustable fit, which is key when planning for longer wear at the office, daytime outings, or events like wedding season.
Stewart’s stylish shoe of choice also provided a chic base for her equally neutral outfit, making a perfect daytime look. While exploring Barbour’s new pop-up, she wore a waxed beige jacket from the British outerwear brand, complete with tartan lining and a brown corduroy collar. The effortless layering style — which is also ideal for chillier spring mornings — was paired with a brown leather scarf-necked blouse, blue denim midi skirt, and gold-buckled belt. Instead of a handbag, Stewart touted her go-to embossed black Bandolier cellphone case on a crossbody strap, which proved both stylish and functional.

Similarly, you can pair wedge-soled sandals with neutral-toned layering separates and denim pieces, such as jeans or a skirt, for a streamlined look. They also make a clean base for a lightweight blouse and trousers in coordinating black, tan, or white hues. We especially love the monochrome style’s shape with a midi dress this time of year, which creates an easy slip-on outfit that works for any occasion—especially in a trending pastel shade or floral pattern.
Wedges are also a popular pick for savvy shoppers. One customer found the same budget-friendly pair we loved so “comfortable, “elegant" and "chic, " that she already planned to buy them in more colors. Another shopper celebrated the style’s fit, noting how they “fit perfectly” and provide “the lift of a high heel without the pain.” Sign us up!
It’s easy to see why height-boosting shoes like Stewart’s are a go-to for springtime dressing. The style is sharp, clean, and easy to walk in, all while providing you with the same height boost as stiletto heels — minus the discomfort. We can’t wait to slip on a pair this season.
